According to the final verses of the twenty-eighth chapter of Matthew’s gospel and Christ’s announcement that He would build His Church, following His experience at Calvary and His resurrection from the grave, He commissioned His apostles to go into all the world with His message of redemption. He commanded the twelve to teach every soul they could and to baptize those who believed in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. He further instructed them to teach those whom they baptized to observe all that He had commanded them, and gave His disciples the assurance of His supporting presence everywhere they went for an eternity.

According to this reference the foremost mission of the apostles and those they baptized, the church is to challenge everyone with the gospel (good news of the death, the burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ) with the hope of their obeying the message, being baptized into Christ and inviting and bringing more souls into the kingdom. According to Matthew 28: 19 and 20, the church is born and kept alive through being taught about God, obedience to the word and through the confirmation of God’s message of redemption to those who through faith accept Jesus Christ as Lord.

Serving as the custodian of God’s legacy of redemption and the continued pursuit of the Great Commission, we, the Simpson Street Church of Christ, have committed ourselves to inviting Christ to bless us through the ministries of preaching the gospel to the lost and confirming the believers.

No concerns of the church equal the importance and significance of Christ’s final and Great Commission, a mission whose design and purpose is to redeem the lost and to confirm the baptized in Christ. We, Christ’s church at Simpson and Newport Streets, are committed in faith to Christ and shall pursue this divine charge through our resourceful ministries which are organized efforts and programs through which we shall do God’s biddings. It is our belief that with God’s blessings and the cooperative support of our great and resourceful membership, we shall succeed.

The seven Standing Ministries listed below with their subordinate functions constitute the framework through which the Church will pursue the goals of evangelizing the unsaved and strengthening the lives of God’s people.
