STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Authority of Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God and the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice. The Scripture came as holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21).

The Nature of God

We believe in one God (Isaiah 45:5; 1 Corinthians 8:6), harmoniously and eternally existing in three divine manifestations:

  • The Father,

  • The Son, Jesus Christ, and

  • The Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man, born of the virgin Mary, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in glory (Matthew 17:5; John 1:14; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit comforts, brings remembrance of the teachings of Jesus Christ, convicts the world of sin, guides believers into truth, and dwells in those who obey the gospel, empowering them to live holy and faithful lives (John 14: 26; John 16:8–13; Acts 2:38; Romans 8:11).

Salvation and Justification

We believe salvation is by the grace of God and justification through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2: 8-9; Galatians 2:16), expressed in obedient response to the gospel.

Baptisim

Humankind is fallen and separated from God and requires reconciliation provided only by baptism (2 Corinthians 5:16-21) and thus, we believe baptism is essential to salvation and the point at which a believer enters into Christ, receives reconciliation with God, the forgiveness of sins, and is added to the body of Christ (Acts 2:38, 41, 47; Romans 6:3–4; Galatians 3:27).

The Church

We believe the church is the Body of Christ, made up of baptized believers who seek to worship God in spirit and truth (1 Corinthians 12:12–27; John 4:23–24).

Marriage

We believe marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to be between one man and one woman, reflecting the relationship between Christ and His church (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:31–32).

God’s Creation of Humankind

Biological sex and gender are permanent characteristics given by God as a part of His design and plan for the individual (Genesis 1:27-31).

Faithful Membership

We believe faithful membership is demonstrated by believers who are good and faithful stewards of their time, talent, and treasure to the service of God and His kingdom as stewards must be found faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2) and gather, worship, teach, encourage, and serve others (Hebrews 10:24–25). Every member must pursue spiritual growth and live a life aligned with God’s kingdom and His purposes (2 Peter 3:18; Colossians 1:10; Matthew 6:33).

Christian Living and Discipleship

We believe every Christian is called to pursue holiness, and live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, bearing fruit in good works and reflecting Christ in character and conduct (Galatians 5:22–23; Romans 12:1–2). We believe that marks of discipleship are love, self-denial, and continuing in God’s word (John 13:35; Luke 9:23; John 8:31).

Biblical Leadership and Church Order

We believe God has designed the church to be set in order and brought the Gospel by God-ordained evangelists, led by elders (bishops/overseers), served by deacons, and supported by faithful members (Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Timothy 3:1–13; Titus 1:5–9; Acts 14:23).

The Second Coming and Judgment

We believe Jesus Christ will return, the dead will be raised, and all people will stand before God in judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous will face eternal separation from God (John 5:28–29; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11–15).
